The Tale of the $3000 Dishtowel and Broken Hearts

S o TGRR is running out of money faster than normal this year. Lots of reasons, but the most entertaining by far involves Timo, one of the beautiful Champion Line Goldens we rescued in December from a less-than-reputable breeder. Timo in his Cone of Shame A couple of weeks ago, Timo stopped eating and then became very lethargic. After a couple of days, his foster, Sandy Cameron began to be very concerned and a trip to our fabulous vet partners, Dr. Julie Packard and Dr. Emily Westmoreland, at Bel-aire Veterinary Hospital was warranted. An x-ray showed that Timo had a mass in his colon.  O ff to Carolina Veterinary Specialists Timo went. The specialists at CVS concurred that Timo needed surgery and he needed it right now.  Much fingernail biting and praying went on as we waited anxiously for news.  F inally! A call to our President, Faye Wilhite, let us know the surgery was successful and that Timo's blockage wasn't a tumor at all.  An ordinary $3 dish...

Volunteer of the Season: Helen Williams

Helen Williams is no Yes Man. She's a Yes Woman! Ask her if she can help out, and her response is always "YES!"  Can you pick up a dog in timbucktoo? YES! Are you able to help out with baseball parking? YES Can you take medicine to one of our fosters? YES! If you've volunteered for TGRR lately, you've probably seen Helen around because, well, she's always around to lend a helping hand. She's the sweet chatty one with the British accent and the great smile. Helen started volunteering for TGRR just a couple of years ago and hit the ground running. She first transported a dog for us, just hours after landing at PTI, returning from visiting her family in England. Nevermind jet lag, there's a dog that has somewhere he needs to go! Within a year of starting, Helen was asked if she'd be willing to serve on the TGRR Board. Her answer? You guessed it, "Yes!"  "Helen is always willing to jump into the frying pan to learn new thi...
